Recipe Notes

Makes 1 gallon

By Mark Errington

Ingredients

1 cup of sugar

2 Tbsp of Vanilla Extract

2 quarts and 1 pint of heavy whipping cream

1 quart and 1 pint of milk

2 package of JELL-O Vanilla Cook & Serve Pudding Mix (4.6 oz Box)

4 eggs

Mini Chocolate Chips  (optional)

Rock Salt (optional)

3 bags or more of fine crashed ice (optional)

Directions

  1. Add eggs, sugar, vanilla extract, and 1 cup of heavy whipping cream in a large bowl and mix them all together and set a side
  2. Make the Pudding Mix, add Pudding Mix and 4 cups of milk into a medium/large saucepan over median heat). Using a large wooden spoon, mix the pudding slowly until it gets thick.
  3. Do not over cook or under cook the pudding! The pudding will become a little thick when its done.
  4. When the pudding is done; add the egg mix from above to the pudding mix and stir for about three minutes or so, with the heat on medium.
  5. Pour all of this into the ice cream container or a one gallon plastic jug.
  6. Add the rest of the heavy whipping cream to the mix or up to the fill line of the ice cream container using a spoon to mix. If using a plastic jug, you may need a funnel.
  7. Put the lid on the plastic jug and shake it many times to mix everything together).
  8. Now get a strainer and pour the mix through it. You may need another one gallon plastic jug and a funnel.
  9. You can start turning the mix now or put the ice cream container in the refrigerator for at lease 3 hours or over night.
  10. You are now ready to turn your ice cream.
  11. If you put your ice cream in a plastic jug like I do. You will need about 15 - 8oz glass jars with lids.
  12. I fill each jar and put them in the refrigerator where I keep my frozen foods, ice.
  13. Each day I take one jar out and set it a side where I am eating my lunch or dinner. After I'm done eating the ice cream is soft enough to eat.

Enjoy!
