Complaints I am hearing from my Customers about local locksmiths...
24 HOUR LOCKSMITH: My customer called them for a price and they wanted to come out and see the car. Even after my customer told them over the phone what the car was. Because of this company they lost this customer. (BTW: 24 HOUR LOCKSMITH is operated out of Bronx, New York). This company calls local locksmiths in Oregon and ask them if they want to be their sub-contractor (They called me one day and I told them "NO!", and hung up the phone. Then they called me back and I still said "NO!"). This company operates on bait and switch. They tell you a price over the phone. Then when they come out, they tell you that was the cost to come out, not to unlock your car. So instead of paying $50. You end up paying about $95 or more. And that price is during the day. So when calling a locksmith, make sure that the price he gives you over the phone is for EVERYTHING (e.g., unlocking the car, trip charges, etc.).
Remember that during your phone call with the locksmith, you just made a verbal contract and agreed on a price with him to come out there and unlock you car. A verbal contract is legal. Consult an attorney for advice on verbal contracts.
All American Lock & Key: Beaverton, OR. I forgot what the customer said about these guys, but she didn't like them.
Tri-County Locksmith: SE Portland, OR. My customer called me after he called a guy working for Tri-County Locksmith to canceled his servcie with them. The guy from Tri-County Locksmith treated to hurt my customer if he canceled the call. After I arrived and unlocked my customer's house, a Portland Police Officer came and took a report.
Complete Locksmith 24/7: A customer of mine said that Complete Locksmith 24/7 is charging $55 just to come out and another $50 or more just for the service.
